Methodology
Which recalls get a full page
To keep pages useful, RecallRadar builds full detail pages for: every CPSC recall announced since Jan 1, 2024; and every FDA recall event first posted since Jan 1, 2025 that includes a Class I product. Every other record — 35,991 of them — is still in search and links straight to the official notice.
FDA recall events
FDA gives each recalled product its own recall number and groups related products into an event. RecallRadar shows one page per event, listing every product in it.
Product types and hazards
Recent CPSC records usually do not include a product category, so RecallRadar assigns product types by matching keywords in the recall title and product names, and hazard groups by matching keywords in CPSC's hazard statement. FDA reason groups match keywords in FDA's reason for recall. A recall can be in more than one group, and keyword matching can miss or misplace a recall. Groups are shown only when they contain at least 5 recalls.
Companies
For CPSC recalls the company is taken from the recall title (for example “Bodum USA Recalls …”) or, failing that, the listed manufacturer or importer. For FDA it is the recalling firm. Company pages group records by a simplified name, so similar names can be combined. Check each official notice.
What we never do
- We do not change hazard, remedy or product text, other than shortening long product lists.
- We do not say a product is unsafe beyond what the agency says.
- We do not invent recalls, models or dates. If a field is blank in the source, it is blank here.
